Farida Khanum Biography
Farida Khanum (born 1939) is a legendary Pakistani classical singer, known as Malika-e-Ghazal (Queen of Ghazal) in both Pakistan and India. She is celebrated as one of the greatest exponents of ghazal singing. Khanum began her career at 21 with her first public concert in 1950 and gained recognition through Radio Pakistan. She rose to fame when invited by President Ayub Khan for a public recital in the 1960s. Known for her iconic ghazal Aaj Jaane Ki Zidd Naa Karo, she has performed extensively on Pakistani TV and in India. Khanum also performed in Afghanistan and collaborated with Afghan musicians.
